In the inter-zone final of the Davit Cup contest at Wimbledon, Budge (U.S.A.) beat Henkel (Germany), 7—5, 11—9, 6—B, 6—l. It was rather a tame encounter, Henkel playing a defensive game throughout. Budge made many errors through impatience. Rain caused the postponement of the match between von Cramm (Germany) and Allison (U.S.A.). CRAWFORD SUPERIOR. AUSTIN OVERSHADOWED. RUBBER TO AUSTRALIA. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 20. In the last two singles today Crawford beat Austin 6—2, 6—4, 3—6, 6—3, and in the match between Perry and McGrath the scores were 2—6, 6—2, 3—l, when it was abandoned because of rain. Crawford’s win gave the Australians the rubber. Full of confidence , after his defeat of Perry on Thursday, Crawford drove deeply and powerfully and served well. He volleyed more often than usual and altogether overshadowed Austin’s stylish, but less virile game, 'Perry and McGrath fought at a great pace. In the first set McGrath hammered backhand drives straight down the line with remarkably accuracy, but Perry intensifying his boisterous belligerence, won the second set overwhelmingly. FRINTON TOURNEY. MALFROY BEATS NISHIMURA. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 20. In the final of the men’s singles at the Frinton tournament, C, E. LONDON, July 21. Larry Gains won the world’s heavyweight championship for coloured boxers, defeating Obie Walker on points in a 16-round bout at Leicester. BISLEY BLUE RIBAND. WON BY, F. S. FRENCH. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, July 20. At Bisley today, Armourer-Sergeant ,F. S. French, formerly of the Hertfordshire Yeomanry, won the King’s Prize, scoring 289 points.
