COMPULSORY TRAINING
EX-SOLDIERS AT VARIANCE, (Received 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 18. There was a fierce discussion this evening at a conference of the Victorian Returned Soldiers’ Association on a motion urging the immediate return to compulsory military training. One section was violently hostile to the motion and talked of “throwing in their badges" if it were carried. Opinions were almost equally divided. A serious dispute was averted, however, by an amendment to refer the subject to the sub-branches for discussion.
