At the Victoria Park Racing Club’s meeting today the feature was the performance of Golden Treasure in the Nursery Handicap in clipping threequarters of a second off the race record. His win was especially impressive as he drew an -unfavourable position at the barrier, and was near the tail of the field until the last furlong. Golden Chance and Golden Treasure respectively are three and two yearold brothers of Golden Wings. They opened their winning accounts on successive days in the Metropolitan area.

The chief results today were:—

Nursery Handicap, of 100 sovS; four furlongs and three-quarters. First division. —-Golden Treasure, 7.7 (Knox). 1; Wise Boy, 8.7 (Fox), 2; Calesco, 7.7 (Finch), 3. Thirteen started. Won by a head. Time—SSJsec. Sir Walter ran third in the second division of the Nursery. Welterhandicap, of 100. sovs; seven furlongs. First division. —Prince Pombal, 10.7 (Webb), 1; Tortoni, 8.11 (James), 2; El Pariso, 8.8 (Maxwell), 3. Eighteen started, including Limoux and Tea Fight. Won by two lengths. Time —1.27J —a race record. Tea Picker was unplaced in the second division of the Welter. Viking and Stratosphere were unplaced in the Maiden Handicap. King of Diamonds was unplaced in the second division of the Flying Handicap.

S. Cush, the lessee and trainer of Prince Pombal, who won under 10.7 in race record time at Victoria Park yesterday, has decided that the former New Zealander will compete in future in Melbourne, where the prize money is more attractive. Prince Pombal has not had a spell for two years. The “Telegraph,” commenting on the race, says: “Prince PombaVs record time is a remarkable performance. He overcame more than weight difficulties for he was hurdled off at the start, had to cover extra ground and raced against a strong wind. He possesses the heart of a lion.”
