AT STORTFORD LODGE

HEAVY ENTRY OF CATTLE. [ per Press Association. — Copyright. I HASTINGS, This Day. A heavy yarding of 511 fat cattle, comprising principally cows, came forward at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge. The quality of the offering was good generally, with some prime heavy female beef included. Bullocks and heifers were offered in only moderate numbers, with most of this class of stock of medium quality. Selling was very steady throughout the sale, and with the exception of a few pens, a total clearance was effected. Store cattle were unchanged, and in only moderate supply. Fat sheep were penned in average numbers, but prices showed no change, with the exception of export ewes, which showed a slight advance. Store sheep were of better quality generally, but prices were unchanged. with an easing in the. demand for young sheep. Values were:—Fat cattle; Bullocks, medium to prime. £7 10 to £0 10k others, from £0 15/; cows, medium to prime. £5 5- (o £0 Hi': others, from M'S 6/; heifers, medium to prime. £5 10/ to £7; others, from £3 10-. Fat sheep: Ewes, medium lo prime. 15/7 to 17/3; others, from 12/G; wethers.
