UNUSUAL ACCIDENT

DEATH OF SPORTING DOG. PUKEPOTO HAPPENING. While shooting on his property at Pukepoto on Thursday, Mr Jack Soutor had the misfortune to lose his sporting dog under unusual - circumstances. Having wounded a bird, which fell in a ditch, Mr Souter put his gun on the bank while he went after the quarry. His dog jumped on to the gun and struck the trigger with his paw. The gun exploded and blew off the dog’s nose. The animal had to be destroyed.
