As the result of an explosion in a mine in the Bihar province, 16 men were killed and 23 others were injured. The cause of the explosion is not known, as the flames'and smoke are still issuing from many vent holes. The accident was sensed by a foreman, who did not hear the explosion, but ordered the men up. Four of the 150 men failed to report, and the foreman and the assistant manager went down. Both perished. Flames shot up *he shaft and injured 33 men, ten of . whom died.
