HITLER'S DOUBLE

GERMANS CONFUSED. IS IT SAFETY MOVE? (Received 12.30 p.m.) BERLIN, July 1. When the Nazis shout “Heil Hitler” in future they will not know whether they are saluting Herr Hitler or his double, whose likeness enables him convincingly to deputise at official functions. Thousands of Germans lustily cheered the double at the opening of the new Reich motor road at Munich in th.- belief that they were acclaiming the Fuehrer. The double is said to resemble Herr j Hitler in almost every detail. He is j reputed to be the highest salaried German official. The precaution suggests that Herr Hitler’s supporters are apprehensive of assassination attempts.
