POST OFFICE ROBBERY
DARING THIEF. MAN LEAPS OVER COUNTER. . SUSPECT ARRESTED. [Special to “Northern Advocate "1 HAMILTON, This Day. While Miss E. M. Fitzgerald, postmistress at the Hamilton East Post Office, was engaged using the telephone in an adjoining room about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, a young man leapt over the grill in front of the office counter and rifled the till. He escaped with about £5 in silver and notes,
Hearing a noise in the front office, Miss Fitzgerald rushed out and saw a man vaulting over the grill at the edge of the counter. He then escaped on to the road. On going out of the building, Miss Fitzgerald saw the intruder disappeai'ing round the corner of an adjoining street. The police were informed, and a search of the district was immediately commenced. A young man was arrested last evening, and charged with the theft. He will appear in the Police Court today.
