LIGHT BEEF FOR EXPORT. j SHEEP PRICES UNCHANGED. j 1 Pol Hress Assor'lntlon. — r 'oT>yrtpTit.j j HASTINGS, Tills-Day. j An entry of 428 fat cattle not up to the usual standard of quality came j forward at yesterday’s sale at Stort- j ford Lodge, and sold at rates generally on a parity with recent sales. Export buyers took a large proportion of the lighter lines. About 700 store cattle sold steadily with little change in prices compared with last week. Fat sheep were in good supply, and included some extra prime heavy pens of ewes and wethers, the entry, generally showing improvement in quality. However, the prices realised were unchanged. Store sheep j sold very well, with strong competi-1 tjon, particularly for breeding j sheep, and values rose accordingly. Prices were; —Fat cattle; Bullocks, medium to prime, to £9 6/; others, from £5 15/; heifers, medium to prime, £4 17/6 to £6 5/; others, from £3 5/; cows, medium to prime, £4 2/6 to £6; others, from £2 12/6. Store Cattle: Bullocks, to £6 7/; steers, to £5 14/; cows, running with bull, to £3 2/; heifer, to £3 16/. Fat Sheep: Ewes, medium to prime heavy, 15/6 to 19/; others, from 13/; wethers, medium to prime heavy, 20/ to 23/; lambs, to 25/8. Store Sheep: Ewes, mixed ages, to 25/; wethers, to 20/; wether hoggets, to 17/1.
