SATURDAY’S GAMES. The weather was not very favourable for the Rugby matches played' on Saturday:— Ohaeawai-Kalkohe. The first piece of play occurred when Fred Rameka got away and scored for Ohaeawai. J. Edmunds’ kick was unsuccessful. Ohaeawai 3, Kaikohe 0. Whiu tried a drop-kick for Kaikohe, but missed the objective, and the Kaikohe forwards, led by Williams, made Ohaeawai force down. Kaikohe secured another force-down, and Ohaeawai, retaliating, made Kaikohe do likewise a couple of times. At this stage Martini was laid out, but was able to continue. Peter Clarke scored for Ohaeawai from a dribbling rush. The kick failed. Ohaeawai 6, Kaikohe 0.
Ohaeawai continued to make the pace, and Ned Ripia scored an unconverted try. Ohaeawai 9, Kaikohe 0. Waro then successfully converted a free kick for Kaikohe —Ohaeawai 9, Kaikohe 0. This was the half-time score.
Ohaeawai made Kaikohe force down shortly after the kick off, and the play then went up and down this field. Kaikohe was awarded a free kick, and Ballantine converted successfully. Ohaeawai 9, Kaikohe 6. Ohaeawai’s final score was secured by T. Baker, the kick being successful, and the game finished: Ohaeawai 14, Kaikohe 6. The* referee was Mr C. Denize. The game was not very interesting, and the Ohaeawai backs did not open up the play as they could have done.
