LATE JEWISH RABBL / ISpecial to " Northern Advocate.”! AUCKLAND, This Day. Representatives of practically every municipal, social and religious institution in Auckland attended the burial of the late Rabbi Goldstein at Waikumete cemetery yesterday afternoon. The cortege was three-quar-ters of a mile long and consisted of 83 cars. A simple and impressive burial service was conducted in the Hebrew chapel at the cemetery by the Rev. A. Astor,’ who read the prayers in both Hebrew arid English. The plain, unornamented coffin, draped in black, was borne, from the chapel to the grave by Freemasons. A Masonic service was conducted at the graveside' by Mr S. Clarke, Worshipful Master of Lodge Ara. Additional messages of condolence received by the Rev. Astor in respect of Rabbi Goldstein i include the following: From Sydney: “The President and Board of the Great Synagogue deeply deplore the passing of Rapbi Goldstein and extend sympathy to relatives and your congregation.” This / was signed “Wollff, secretary.” Mr L. Ccakley, a member of the Auckland City Council, telegraphed: “Deepest sympathy, self and congregation,” ■
