Accused was remanded and when he appeared again yesterday morning two additional charges were preferred against him —assaulting Norman Kenneth Sligo so as td cause actual bodily harm, and with menaces demanding money from Alfred Richard Buchanan with intent to steal the money. Mr Jenkins,, who appeared for Spicer, asked for a further remand for a week,. and this was granted. Mr R. A, Singer announced that he was acting on behalf of the person named in the charge of blackmail. “I think it is only right that the Court should suppress his. name," said counsel. The magistrate refused the application, stating that he had power only to suppress names of persons who were charged with an offence punishable by imprisonment, Mr Singer’s client was not in any way charged.
