LADY HOUSTON’S OFFER
£200,000 FOR AIR DEFENCE. DECLINED BY CHANCELLOR. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON. May 30. Mr Neville Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, has declined Lady Houston’s offer of £200.000 for the air defence of London, He has informed her, however, that he is willing to accept the sum as a contribution to general revenue. Lady Houston, who financed the last British Schneider Cup air entry, previously offered* £200,000 for the air defence of London, and it was rejected by Mr MacDonald, who was subsequently subjected to vigorous and abusive criticism by the wealthy donor. . .
