NORTH ISLAND SHEEP DOG TRIAL ASSOCIATION. COMMENCE NEXT TUESDAY. The championship trials of the North Island Sheep Dog Trial Associ.t ation are advertised to take place .next i Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and ■ Friday, on the property of Messrs 1 Loasby and Bindon, Remuera Estate, ■ Bay of Islands. . Mr ,M. Parkinson, of Te Karaka,' Poverty Bay, has been appointed judge, and the trials will commence each morning at 8 o’clock. The programme includes championship long head, championship short head and yarding, and the championship huntaway. Special prizes to be awarded will ‘be the W. H. Gaisford Challenge Silver Cup for dog scoring most points in the long head, short head and yarding, and also the James Lilico Shield, valued at £ls 15/, for dog showing best style at ring and yard in these two classes. For dog or dogs scoring most points in one heading event and huntaway the Rutherford Memorial Shield i» announced as a special prize, and for the dog scoring most points in the huntaway A. McLean’s Memorial Challenge Cup is to be competed for. Other valuable prizes are the Donald McDonald Memorial Challenge Cup—one heading dog scoring most points in the championship long head and the short head and yarding, and two huntaway dogs scoring most points in the huntaway; the Secretary’s Challenge Shepherd’s Crook for the youngest competitor among the first three winners in any class; W. Teachers and Sons, Ltd. Challenge Silver Cup for most natural pull in the long and short head; Co-operative Wholesale Society’s; Challenge Cilp for rough-coated collie; Walker and Hall’s Challenge Trophy for smooth-coated collie; G. Holden’s Trophy for bearded collie; and the Bay of Islands Ladies’ 50-Guinea Trophy for one heading dog scoring most points in the long head, short head and yarding and for one huntaway dog scoring most points in the championship huntaway. Entries closed on Tuesday last, but late entries may be taken up to two days before the championship, i.e., Saturday, June 1. by paying a late fee of 5/ for each dog or event -to the secretary. Mr J.
