Davis Cup players who have been practising at Eastbourne today commenced practice at Devonshire Park, where the Davis Cup contest between New Zealand and Australia commeijces oh Saturday. E. D. Andrews, the Dominion captain, has already arrived, but A. C. Stedman and C. E. Malfroy were not due until later in the day. The Australian team will be chosen on Wednesday. NEW ZEALAND PROSPECTS. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, May'7. Wallis Myers, in the “Daily Telegraph,” says; “While the Australian’s victory in the first round can be confidently predicted on relative form, A. C. Stedman, New Zealand, will not be easily beaten by Australia’s second singles player, while Australia will need its best efforts to win the doubles.” H. O. Hopman, the “Sun-Herald” correspondent, writing from Eastbourne, states: “E. D. Andrews is the only New Zealander yet. I practised singles with him, and found his forehand good, but his backhand is weak, and needs much practice in order to hold our best. C. E. Malfroy and A. C. Stedman arrive tonight.”
