The former secretary of the Thames Harbour Board, James Morrison Fox, aged 37, a married man, appeared on remand at the Police Court yesterday, charged with the theft of £994 19/9, the property of the Harbour Board. , A Government auditor gave evidence that no attempt had been made to falsify the books and records, other than a cheque for a minor amount. Accused frankly admitted the shortage. Prior to the audit accused did not know the amount. He had given every assistance in clearing up the matter. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence. Bail of £2OO was allowed.
