BRITISH CONSERVATIVES THE WAVERTREE DEBACLE. LLOYD GEORGE “INTERESTED.” i“The Times” Cable.l (.Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, February 8. The political correspondent of “The Times” states that Mr Baldwin, Leader cf the Conservative Party, is not pre« pared to take disciplinary action in connection ‘with the splitting of the vote by Mr Randolph Churchill, in tho Wavertree by-election and the loss of the seat to Labour. He prefers to wait and see how the situation develops. However, there is a widespread demand from other constituencies for an immediate revision of the party system. The cause of the new position will necessitate serious examination, prob ably at the meeting of the Conserva tive Central Council, to be held on March 27. The political correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says that if a small num. ber of delegates to the council express doubt regarding the Government’s Indian policy, Mr Baldwin will immediately summon a meeting of the Carlton Club, at which he will endeavour to rout the malcontents and secure a vote of coaddence. Mr Lloyd George is very interested in the Conservatives' discomfiture. There are jumours of fresh overtures to him to join the Government, with' tfce Liberal followers of Sir Herbert Samuel,
