COMPETITION CRICKET

OLD BOYS’ FORLORN EFFORT. TAIT IN FORM. Old Boys took two points from High School when the Thursday Cricket Competition was continued Thursday, but Albion A forged ahead another point by reason of a default from Albion B. The resumption of school in the New Year finds High ; School with a very depleted team. They have no bowlers and very few batsmen. The School went in first, but the batting was uninspiring, except for 45 by Hawken, who played some nice shots. He showed no lack of confidence at the wickets and his was the last to fall. Brunette handled the ball well as usual. Old Boys took advantage' of the weak attack to knock up 121 for 4 wickets. Tait was lucky at times, but he hit hard and retired shortly before Given declared. A futile attempt was then made to dismiss High School a second time in about 20 minutes. Details were:— HIGH SCHOOL. First Innings. Murdoch, b Given * 1 P. Wilson, c A.
