SHORTAGE OF LAMB.

The Bank of New Zealand has received the following report from its London office as ■at the close of business last week.

Wethers: There is a little better demand. Ewes: Trade is slow. Lambs: There is a moderate demand; smaller supplies have caused prices to harden. Trade is slow generally. Quotations: Wethers, light, sid to 6d; heavy, 4 l-8d to 5 1-ißd; ewes, 3£d to 4 5-8 d; lambs, twos, 7|d to 8d; eights, 8d to 8 l-8d; fours, 7£d to 7gd; seconds, 7d to 7id. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board’s report is as follows; —Lambs: There is a fair demand, with prices firmer owing to short spot stocks. Mutton: ’ Lightweight wethers are slightly easier, but trade is fair. The demand for ewes is slow. Beef: Prices are better, with stocks showing a decrease. New Zealand porkers: The demand is quiet, with lightweight easier. New Zealand baconers; Slightly firmer.
