AUCKLAND TROTS ROl L’OR’S GREAT VICTORY ESTABLISHES GRASS TRACK RECORD. WAR GIRL SURPRISES. [Special to “Northern Advocate.” l AUCKLAND, This Day. The outstanding feature on the first day of the Auckland Trotting -Club’s summer meeting, which commenced at Epsom yesterday, was the splendid performance of Roi TOr in winning the Auckland Royal Trotting Cup, in the world’s grass track record time of 4.15 2-5 for two miles. The previous record, 4.19 2-5, was put up eight years ago by Great Bingen when he ran third in the President’s Handicap. Roi TOr was driven by Mr F. Holmes, who travelled by aeroplane to Auckland from Ashburton, arriving a few hours before the race. The cup was presented to Mr P. Brown, of Waimate, owner of Roi TOr, by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, who expressed the regret felt that the Duke of Gloucester was unable to be present.

The totalisator investments amounted to £30,789, against £35,026, a drop of £4,237.
