FAULT LIES WITH GIRLS

JUDGE’S COMMENTS. Mr Justice Charles, at Notts Assizes, said Judges of Assize found there was a large number of young men, boys really, charged with offences against young girls. “In my experience,” continued Mr Justice Charles, “the fault often lies with the girl. I try case after case in which girls are the temptresses and the girls are entirely without morals. It is only if the girl—a child really—happens to find she is in trouble that the matter comes into court at all.” He added that such girls could now be sent to an approved home where they would be taught morals and manners.
