Child Captures Hawk. Mrs Norman of Woodford, Blue Mountains, New South Wales, reports that a brown hawk which had been worrying poultry-keepers *in the district for a considerable time was caught recently by her five-year-old daughter, Stephanie. The child heard a great cackling in the poultry yard. She rushed to the yard and saw three roosters attacking the hawk, which had flown into the yard to catch a chicken. Calling to her sister, aged three, to bring a big piece of rag, the child rushed into the yard, grasped the hawk, and held it fii'mly to the ground. The sister brought thb rag, which Stephanie promptly put over the hawk’s head to prevent it biting her. Mrs Richards found Stephahie in the fowl’s yard holding down the hawk with the rag well over its head, Mrs Richards put the bird in a bag until she had nailed some wire over a large box. She then placed it in the bpx, with a tin of water.
