EVENTS AT ASCOT. BARRAGKER WINS THOUSAND. EASTER CHIEF SCORES. MELBOURNE, December 24. At the Ascot races today Epigram ran unplaced in the Ascot Thousand, and Palm Queen and Queen Helen in the Ascot Handicap. The chief events resulted:— Ascot Handicap, of 300 sovs; one mile and a quarter and 40 yards.— Eastern Chief, 8.5 (Breasley), 1; Glide Away, 9.0 (Skidmore), and Glass, (Powell), dead heat, 2. Nine started, Including Palm Queen and Queen Helen. Half a length. Time 1 —2.8:;.'
