Answering a question in the House of Commons, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Neville Chamberlain, recalled that the Bank of Internationel Settlement was set up not merely to handle reparation payments, but also to assist in collaboration between central banks. Britain was a party to the resolution passed at the International Economic Conference, which reaffirmed the declaration favouring close and continuous co-operation of central banks, and expressing the view that the Bank of International Settlement Would play an increasingly important part in that process.
