FISH PLENTIFUL

CATCHES OFF WHANGAROA. Messrs. F. W. Sullivan, of Sydney, and J. Sanderson, on the launch Matire, returned on Monday evening from one’of the deep-water reefs after an exciting and profitable day hapuka fishing. In addition to having landed a considerable number of hapuka and other fish .they had an interesting time with a large mako, which they sighted on the ground but were unable to landFishermen report considerable shoals of trevalli and kahawai working, which may be taken as an indication of an early gamefishing season.

News has been received that Mr S. Ellis, of Kaitaia, has had his launch Wanderer 11. commissioned for swordfishing during the coming season’ at Whangaroa by the well-known angler, Mr R. B. S. Watson.
