"ADVOCATE” SCHOLARSHIP
ANOTHER 2/6 PAID OUT
ENTRANT S REPORT PUBLISHED.
A CHANCE FOR EVERY BOY,
Last week another entry in the “Advocate” scholarship, that submitted by Keith Fagan, of Onerahi, was published. As payment is made for each entry published. 2/6 has been forwarded to the writer.
Any entry sent in by a boy eligible to compete in the scholarship, full details of which are given on page 8, will be published if it is of sufficient merit, and the writer will receive 2/G. Each entry, whether published or not, will be judged when the scholarship closes on January 21. Entries for the scholarship continue to reach the “Northern Advocate,” many boys having realised the value of the offer of money to provide a secondary school. education and of a six months’ trial employment on the staff of. the “Advocate” at the conclusion of secondary schooling. The task for entrants is the writing of a newspaper report on any happening or subject. The only difficulty about this, is; that it is a new test. A newspaper report is really quite easy to write, and intending entrants would do well to study the daily paper and see how subjects are handled. Look out for news, ferret out the facts, link them together in grammatical and readable manner and send your entry to the “Northern Advocate,” using the coupon you will find on Page 8.
