RAILWAY MEN
DISMISSALS CONFIRMED. OTAHUHU WORKSHOPS. WELLINGTON. This' Day. The report that a number of men were to be dismissed from the OtahUhu railway workshops was confirmed by the Prime Minister, Mr Forbes, last night in a letter, .sent, by him to Mr W. J. Jordan; (Labour, Manukau). “Owing to the approaching Completion of work now in hah(l in the various workshops, and to ; the. reduced volume of ordinary workthatwill require to be dealt with in ate future,” the Prime Minister wrote, “an adjustment of .the . fibber of staff has become quently the employment of k a : number of temporary employees, will ••require to. be terminated. This ary .procedure in connection >with the ebb .and flow of work m~the workshops. . The men. will again be given employment : ...immediately work is available for them.”
A total of 31 men were- dismissed from various shops at OtahUhu on Saturday morning, ~
