INCREASE DENOTED. [Per Press Association. — Copyright ,l WELLINGTON, This Day. A Gazette notice issued last night contains a return of the estimated population of the Dominion proper at September 30 as follows: Total population, including Maoris, 790,887 males, 760,898 females; total, 1,551,785. Population, excluding Maoris, 752,551 males, 725,519 females; total, 1,478,070. Maori population, 38,336 males, 35,379 females; total, 73,715. North Island, including Maoris, 516,530 males, 487,638 females; total, 1,004,168.

South Island, including Maoris, 274,357 males, 273;260 females; total, 547,617.

During the quarter ended September 30, the population showed an increase of 2830, compared with 2420 in the corresponding quarter of 1933.
