ADDITIONAL FUEL EARLY MORNING START (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Squadron-Leader Hewitt says that in the air race the range of their plane was 1400 miles. They are making provision for additional, petrol storage, so that the range, while crossing the Tasman, will be at least 1600 miles.
The machine will be equipped with wireless, enabling the airmen to be in touch with either Australia or New Zealand all the way. They expect the overhaul of the machine to be completed on Monday, and intend leaving Richmond early in the morning, enabling a daylight landing at Auckland.
