ON ELLERSLIE TRACKS GOOD FOUR BY MOTHER SUPERIOR. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, 'This Day. The weather was again beautiful for training at Ellerslie this morning. No. two grass was open and the going was fast. Star Artist worked steadily. She looked all right, though a little on the big side, but seems as though she had done a good deal of work. Jalldy Karo and On Parade covered half a mile in 51 3-ssec, and the last three in 38sec, finishing together. Carfex and Hauwai ran the- last seven furlongs of a round in 1,35 3-5, but. Carfex was being held back to Hauwai at the finish and was doing it nicely. King Mestor and Rerepai went a short five furlongs, running the. last half-mile in 50sec. King Mestop led early, but Rerepai ran up to him in the straight and they were both doing well at the finish. Dark Marble and Hikutaia covered half a mile in 50 l-45sec. Mother Superior traversed half a mile in 49 3-ssec, the last three taking 37sec. Baroscope worked usefully, running his last three furlongs in 42 3-ssec. Korokio ran six furlongs in 1.24 3-5, going comfortably throughout. Prolyxo, who looks well, sprinted down the straight. Sporting Blood was given an easy half-mile, running the distance in 57 2Pin Money finished his work by sprinting three furlongs in 38 3-ssec. Red Manfred ran five furlongs in I. 1-5, the first two taking 26 4-ssec, ■ King Brierly, after traversing threo furlongs in 37sec, got to the end of six 1 furlongs in 1.16. J Acceptances for the Caulfield Stakes, j of 1000 sovs., standard weight-for-age, nine furlongs, at the opening of the ‘ Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s spring £ meeting on Saturday arc as follows: ‘ Waikare (N.Z.-bred), Rogilla, Chatham, Noel Soldat, Hall Mark, Waltzing Lily. Acceptors for the Herbert Power Handicap, of 500 sovs., eleven furlongs, include Oriel (N.Z.), and Upoko Ariki (N.Z.-bred). M. McCarten, who was undecided whether to x’ide Sir John or Theo in the Caulfield Guineas, is likely to take the mount on the formex*. He will also be on Young Idea in the Debutante Stakes. The New Zealand trainer-rider, F. J. McKay, will pilot Sir Simper in the Toorak Handicap. The apprentice, C, T. Wilson, who usually rides Sir Simper, will be on Groat Don. Shatter slightly bruised a hind fetlock joint as the result of a knock during the train journey from Sydney. Tho. trouble is not regarded as serious. ON THE TRACKS. GOOD MILE BY SAHCHERIE. MELBOURNE. October 11. Heavy rain interfered with the track work in Melbourne this morning, and the going was soft. On the inside grass at Flemington, Sarcherie did the best mile in 1.44. Peter Pan, who looked in great condition. worked solidly over ten furlongs. Chatham ran six furlongs easily in 1.19. Burlesque was responsible fob the best nine furlongs in 2.1. tho last mile in 1.40. Arachne ran five furlongs in 1.5 i, the last four imßlsec. Verberry galloped a mile in 1.4G1, and Gastonade look 1.49. Journal easily beat Bulldozer over five furlongs -in 1.6 J, Master Brierly (N.Z.) did a steady ten furlongs. Theo

and Sylvandale ran five furlongs in 1.9. At Caulfield, on the grass, Rogilla traversed five furlong's in 1.5. Lady Primrose (N.Z.), winner of the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick, ran three furlong's in 40sec, and the Breeders’ Plate winner. Wise Boy, recorded 395, Epigi’am (N.Z.) beat Turbine over five furlongs in 1.5, and Sir John, Waikare and Kuvera took I.G. The Now Zealand-owned horses, Nightly, Limarch, Rollovant and Radiant Star performed steady work. Nightly moved freely. TATTERSALL’S MEETING. GOLDEN WINGS TOP WEIGHT. SYDNEY, October 11. The spring meeting of City Tattersail’s Club will be held at Randwick on Saturday. There are nine acceptors for the Flying Handicap, of 350 sovs„ six furlongs, including the New Zealander, Golden Wings, who is top weight with 9.7. Ten acceptors for City Tattersall’s Handicap, of 500 sovs., one mile and a quarter, include Satmoth, 8.10 (top weight), and Deputy Ruler (N.Z.-bred). 8.2.
