PIG SALES
PROVINCIAL OFFERINGS. (Special .to “Northern Advocate,”) AUCKLAND, This Day. The yarding of pigs, numbering 1115, was a record for the season at Pukekohe yesterday. Messrs Alfred Buckland Sons report that although values were slightly lower there was a steady demand throughout for all prime baconers. Porkers were in fair demand at fully late rates. All classes of stores made a very ready sale. Practically a total clearance was effected. Choppers realised from 32/ to 55/; heavy prime baconers, 65/ to 72/; medium, 59/ to 63/; light, 51/ to 55/; heavy porkers, 47/ to 50/; medium, 41/ to 45/; light and unfinished, 34/ to 38/; large-framed good-con-ditioned stores, up to 40/; smaller, 26/ to 33/; slips, 18/ to 21/; best weaners, 15/ to 19/; smaller, 11/ to 13/; weedy, 8/ to 10/; sow with litter of 10, £8 5/; sows due to farrow, 55/ to 80/. Porkers made an average price per lb. of from s£d to 6d, and baconers from sid to s£d. There was a heavy yarding of pigs at Te Puke on Wednesday, reports the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.—Competition for baconers and porkers was keen, prices being on a par with those of the previous sale. Values were: —Good baconers, 58/ to 61/; lighter, 55/ to 57/; good porkers, 46/ to 51/; good stores, 30/6 to 38/6; poorer quality, 18/6 to 24/6; extra good weaners, 18/6 to 21/; smaller, 10/ to 14/; choppers sows, 30/.
