The first round of the Whau Valley Golf Club men’s senior and junior championships has now been completed, and results are as follows: Senior: Dennis beat Knowles, 4 and 3; Walker beat Sheen, 6 and 4; Hargrave beat Sheriff, 6 and 4; Pole beat Woolley by default; Chalmers beat Dyer, 3 and 2; Horrell beat Moffitt, 6 and 4; Gilligan beat Crawford, 1 up; Bird beat Hamblyn, 1 up. WHANGAREK CLUB. CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS. HIGH SCORING GENERAL. Conditions were hard for golf on Saturday when members of the Whangarei Golf Club played the qualifying rounds of the championships on the Mount Denby Links. A medal round played in conjunction was won by R. Jounneaux, 86—18—68, with V/. J. Orr next with 89—20—69.
