TIPS FOR EASY LAUNDERING.
Before any actual washing is clone any special stains in the garments should be removed and any tears mended. No stockings should be washed until any ladders there may be have been darned. All white things should be soaked overnight. Woollens must never be soaked unless they are new. In this case washing will be easier if they have been previously soaked for a little time in warm water to which some ammonia has been added. Silk stockings should be washed as soon as possible after they are removed, for perspiration weakens the silk. Never iron or mangle silk stockings, as their process kills the life in the silk. For washing doeskin, chamois, washleather, and washable kid or suede gloves use one tablespoonful of soap flakes in a very little hot water. Add cold water till lukewarm and stir into a lather. Draw the gloves on the hands before putting them into the water. Wash on the hands as if you were washing them, paying special attention to rubbing the finger-tips clean. Gloves should be rinsed three times in tepid water. If the leather dries hard draw the gloves on as they arc drying to soften them.
