(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day, Eggs are now a cheap line, quotations today 'being 1/1 to 1/2 P cr 7 ’ on for first grade hen and duck. Prices tor fruit are still on the-low side for the time of the year. Passions are the j exception, ns the season being about over, good samples are selling at 2/ per dozen. Pitcairn oranges are offeringtnt r» for 1/ and other oranges are 2/ per dozen. Hothouse tomatoes are now as high as .1/0 to 2/ per lb, while Island are offered at Sd to 10d per lb. Lemons are in good demand, as influenza colds are very prevalent. The pi ice ranges from 1/ to 1/3 per dozen. Poorman oranges arc now fairly plentiful. A smaller lot of pines arrived from Australia this week than was expected, and prices firmed a little. 'Supplies of old potatoes arc heavy, and the new local crop is coming in more freely. Hothouse mushrooms are offered at 2/6 per lb. Cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts are all in good supply, but good heads of lettuce aie hard to get. Island taro is offered this week at Mbs for 1/. Quotations are: — First grade hen eggs, 1/1 to .1/2 per dozen; duck, 1/1 to 1/2 per dozen. Bacon, in cuts, 8d to lid per lb; rashers, 1/2; whole hams, lid; rashers, 1/3 per lb. First grade factory butter, 1/1 per lb; cash across the counter Id extra when booked; second grade, 1/1 per lb; farmers’ butter, lOd per lb. Cheese: Mild, full cream, 9d to 1/ per lb; medium matured, 1/2 to 1/3. Dessert apples, 3d to 4d per lb; cookers. 2d per lb; Winter Cole and Winter Nelis, 2d to 4d per lb; Island oranges, 2/ per dozen; lemons, 1/ to 1/3 per dozen; bananas; 3d per lb; hothouse tomatoes, 1/6 to 2/ per lb; Island, Rd to 10d per lb; pines, .1/ each; Queensland, 1/6 each;, Californian plums, Set to lOd per lb; passionfruit, 2/ per dozen; tree tomatoes, 5d per lb;, Californian grapefruit, 5d each; others, 2d to 3d each.
