FARMERS’ UNION

MANGAKAHIA BRANCH. Tlic monthly mooting of the Mangakaliin Branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at Parakao on Monday night. Mr F. Platt presided. Numerous subjects were discussed, including derating, quotas and unemployment. The following resolutions were passed: —“That this meeting strongly protests against the dairy farmer being singled out to bear the brunt of the embargo.” “That the levy of 'ld per bale on wool for scientific research is unwarranted.”

“That the action of the Unemployment Board in extending the minimum amount obtainable under 4B Scheme to contracts of £25 or over, thus preventing the farmer from receiving the benefit of small contracts, be noted with keen dissatisfaction and be further dealt with.”

It was agreed lo establish a disposal medium for stock, articles and so on for the benefit of the farmers of the district.
