The first rounds in the Deverell Shield competition for Thursday men players and t)ie Murdoch Cup f or the ladies’ B players commenced last Thursday in the Whangurci Hockey Association’s series. There are four teams in the Deverell Shield competition, as liikurangi have had to withdraw, but some of their players are now linked up with Onerahi. United, winners of the Thursday championship, and Bargain 'Store, both had wins. Portland had a win in the Murdoch Cup, and 'School and Kai Ora both have a point for drawing their mutch. 'i'iie ladies’ A championship is not yet concluded. (School arc still loading, with Hincmou and Horn Hora second and third in that order.
