NEGLIGENT DRIVING CHARGE CASE UNFINISHED (Per Press Association.—Copyright.)

WELLINGTON, This Day

An accident on Jervois Quay, Wellington, on the evening of May 12 last, in which three members of the crew of the steamer Mnhia were struck by a motor car, had its secpiel in the Supreme Court yesterday when Cyril Farcpihnr Chapman a clerk aged 33, stood his trial before a judge and jury on a charge of negligent driving, thereby causing injuries to tCo pedestrians.

The allegation of the court was that Chapman was not keeping a proper lookout, or had had so much liquor prior to the accident that he was not controlling the car in a proper manner.

The case, which was heard before Mr Justice Blair, was unfinished and will bo resumed today.
