In the House ofLords, Viscount Hailsham announced that the King and Queen had been graciously pleased to approve the recommendations of the Pripie Minister that the 2r>th anniversary of His Majesty’s succession, which would fall on Monday, May 0, 10110, should be recognised in a fitting manner. The Government was making the necessary arrangements. The title, Silver Jubilee, 'has been officially adopted for next year. Tho King desired that the celebrations should be on a local basis and that his subjects, wherever practicable, should have an. opportunity of observing the occasion ifear their homes.

Official celebrations in London would extend from May 0 to IS. As: cension Hay, May 0, would be a public holiday throughout the Kingdom, and the celebrations would be inaugurated by a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, attended by the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family, Tho Lord President of the Council had been in communication with the. Prime Minister of Canada, Australia, Kcw Zealand and South Africa and the President of the Exexcutive of tho Irish Free State. The replies received showed that the suggestions had been warmly welcomed by the four Prime Ministers, but owing to political circumstances it was not possible to say in every case whether it would be' practicable for tho Prime Minister to attend.
