ORURU

The highest flood known occurred here last Thursday night. Mr Lambly was held up at Fairburu, and stayed the night at Mr Foster’s. Mrs T. Taylor, of Paranui, was also held up, having to stay the night at Mr Plimley’s, Pcria. A very enjoyable evening was spent on Friday in the Oruru Hall by the local residents, who gave a kitchen evening to Mr Harold Garton and Miss Patricia Ryan, who are to be married on August Ist. There was quite a crowd from far and near. Mr Stevenson was M.C., and he offered the young couple best wishes on . behalf of the people. Mr Garton replied on behalf of Miss Evan and himself.
