UNEMPLOYMENT TAXATION
LEVY REDUCED FOR CERTAIN CLASSES The Unemployment Board announces in this issue that on August .1 an instalment of the Unemployment Levy will fall due, and that simultaneously there will become payable the second instalment of the emergency unemployment charge of 1/- in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1934. Tliis announcement is interesting because of the fact that the Board has reduced to .1/- the quarterly instalment of the levy payable by the following classes of workers: — (1) Mon employed on a rationed basis under Scheme No. 5. (2) Workers in receipt of sustenance. (3) All camp workers except, those employed at* standard rates of pay. (I) Cold prospectors in receipt of a subsidy from the Unemployment Fund.'
Those classes referred to and who are other Ilian camp workers, must have been eligible for relief for* at least one month prior to the date on which each instalment becomes due. This time-restriction does not, however, apply to camp workers included in the classes mentioned.
Information regarding the procedure in order to claim the concession may be obtained from Certifying Officers and at Labour Bureaux. 081
