WHANGAROA COUNTY
MASQUERADE BALL. The grand masquerade ball, given by the Kaeo Basketball Club proved to be an outstandingly successful function, patrons coming from all over the north. With its attractive decorations of nikau palms, ferns and paper flowers, and the gay costumes of the dancers, the hall presented a very bright scene.
Prizes for fancy costumes were won by the following:—Best-dressed lady, Mrs B. Hughes, Early Victorian; bestdressed man, Mr Campbell, Highlander; must original lady, Mrs Wood, “ Query"; most original man, Mr V. Dane, “ T’s and Otherwise’; best couple, Misses Maioha and Shaw, “Mickey and Minnie Mouse.” The judges wore Mesdamcs A, Edwards and Butterworth, and Mr Greene and Mr R. Whitehead.
The excellent music was provided by Edwards’ Orchestra and the extras by Mr and Airs Greene. Mr C. Williams was M.O.

The dainty supper served by the basketball girls was a very enjoyable item on the evening’s programme. The sum of £2l taken at the door, should, after all expenses have been iaei, augment the basketball club’s funds to the extent of some £l4. The cake given by Mias Bowyer was won by Mrs Jaeenthn,
