AWANUI. The monthly meeting of tin* AAvanui AVomen’s Institute was held in Evans Hall, Airs Gallagher presiding over a large attendance. An Interesting lecture on minor accidents in the home was given by Dr. Torric. It Avas decided to hold a raffle each month in aid of hospital funds. The first, prize, donated by Airs F. Evans, Avas won by Afrs Gallagher. The competition for the afternoon was ‘‘Old Photographs,” Avhieh caused much amusement, the wdnner being Airs L. Shalders. The novel idea of exchanging birthday presents by pooling them and then draAving numbers from a basket was suggested by Afrs Miller. Tins met with great applause, and the lucky Avinners wen 1 all pleased Avith their luck, A pleasant surprise Avas now given by Mrs All 1 lei - , avlio provided fruit salad and cream, Avhile afternoon tea Avas served, by the hostesses, Alesdames Bedggood, Berghan, Anderson and Ball.
MAIMARU NATIVES
Tin l Maimaru Native AA’oinen’s Institute hold a dance in Evans Hall on Tuesday night to raise funds for the hospital. The attendance was poor, as there Avere other attractions elsewhere. Great praise is due to the • organisers I in giving the pakelias a lead. I
