BURGLARS DISTURBED
ATTEMPT ON- SAFE.
(Special to “Northern. Advocate.”.) ROTORUA, . This : Day.. Safe-blowers attempted a robbery at the premises of the ■ Rotorua Bus Company on Sunday night. They forced open the front door with a .jemmy, got through a window into the office, plugged the safe lock with gelignite, and piled coats and other articles round the safe to ■ deaden the sound.
The tiring of the first charge called the attention of the town watchman, who, thinking he -heard a noise in the Bus Company's buildings, ; opened the door with his own key. The watchman was evidently heard bv the burglars, who dashed through a window at the back-of the-garage and escaped. The effort to ■ open the safe ‘ was unsuccessful, and it is believed that a second charge of gelignite has been left in the lock.
