Hr A. Macgregor, of Stanley Bay, Auckland, who Jind been spending a short holiday in Whangaroi, returned to Auckland today!

Mr Me Master, who left Masterton some years ago to study in the United States, returned to Auckland by the Mariposa yesterday on a visit to his parents.

The Rev. B. P. Williams, Vicar of Kaitaia, passed through Whangaroi yesterday afternoon on his return North, after attending the refresher course for clergy in the Auckland Diocese.

Dr. A. J. Williams, formerly of Otago University, and holder of a poet-graduate travelling scholarship in science of the University of New Zealand, has been appointed to the Geological Survey of British Guiana.

Mr W. C. Maitland, who has been seven years as veterinary officer with the Agricultural Department, five of which have boon spent in Whangaroi, has reslgond from Hie department. He is commencing private • practice in Whangaroi.

Colonists of 70 years’ standing, Mr and Mrs Charles Stuart, of Arthur Street, Ponsonby, are celebrating their golden wedding today. Mr Stuart landed at Auckland as a hoy of 13 in 1564 and played his part as a soldier in the Maori War. Mrs Stuart is the eldest daughter of the late Mr George Pulman, photographer, of Shorthand Street, Auckland. She was married to Mr Stuart in St. Paul’s Church, Auckland, in LSCL

At a meeting- of directors of the Fluenzol and Q-Tol Proprietary, Ltd., held on IGth hist., the following resolution was passed, members of tlie board standing in eilence: “That this Board place upon record its marked sense of loss in the death of the founder of the company, Mr. Cecil Watson Palmer, its cordial appreciation of his valuable services over a long period of years, and its sincere sympathy with his widow and relatives in the loss thev have sustained.”
