FOOTBALL DANCE. A dance was given in Bye’s Unit, Kaeo, on Thursday, JOth.iiist., by the Omaunu Football ('lull. The dainty was provided by Garten's Oichoslra. Air J. Hills was M.G. The d:i’,r t v and appetising supper was provided by Hie Omaunu ladies. The Spot waltz was won by AHss jA. 'Bromley and partner, and the j Monte Carlo waltz by Miss B. Hills and partner. Afiss AI. Brumby played the extras. I FOOTBALL. The first football match was clayed i on the Kaeo ground in Saturday last when Apanui met Kaeo and were defeated by 20 points to nil. To the spectators, the game was too onesided to be exciting, j Omaunu played Tokcrau at AA'aita- | ruke, when the former won by i 1 i points to nil. j On Saturday, Kaeo and Omaunu j will meet on the Kaeo ground, and ■ Tokcrau and Apanui will play on the ! AVailaruke Held. i W.D.F.U, The fourth birthday parte of the whnngaron branch W.R.F.E. was celebrated on Alay 10 in the Kaeo Memorial Library rooms. There was a good attendance of members and representatives from the Farmers’ Union, An amusing reading was given by Airs T. Leslie. The compel il lon “Jumbled Flower Names,’’ was won by Airs ,1. AfcKeown, and “Book Titles’’ was won by Airs F. N. Silk. An appetising afternoon tea was provided by the hostesses, Alesdames W. H. Lane, F. AY. Slrmnpel, .1. F. AVhitehead and T. E. Leslie, The beautiful birthday cake, wilh its four caudles, was made and decorated by Airs J. .Murray, and cut by the senior member of the division, Airs J. Kenney. PASTURE MANAGEMENT. Air AVoodyear Smith, technical adviser to the Challenge Phosphate Company, delivered an interesting and helpful address to farmers : n Bye’s Hall, Kaeo, on Alay 11. In spite of inclement weather, there was a good attendance of farmers. The lecture, illustrated by lantern slides, dealt with seeds, manures and pasture management, stressing in particular the necessity for obtaining certified seeds. Air Boyd, of Matangi, vice-presi-dent of the Auckland Farmers' Union, then spoke. His subject was of general farming interest, dealing especially with the restriction of markets. At the close of the meeting, which was presided over by Air \V. H. Lane, both speakers wore accorded a hearty vote of thanks. i

The directors of the Whangarna Coo)ieraliv(‘ Dairy Company met on Saturday las) in the company’s office. The pay-out for the month was fixed ai o‘d first grade. Xo finality was reaeliod in the discussion as to the best means to bo adopted for improving the grade (through the coming season. Mr Were lias been requested to attend the next directors’ meeting, when the matter will be carried further with his assistance. The chairman was appointed to represent the company at the North Auckland Dairy Conference in Whangarci, as many directors as possible to accompany him.
SWINE HUSBANDRY.
Mr Halo, chairman of the Waikato Pig Recording- Club, visited Kaoo on Saturday last in the course of Ills lour of Die North, and met the local farmers on Mr P. C. Poke’s property. Ills remarks proved him to be conversant with all problems pertaining 510 the rearing and marketing of pigs, /bud cannot fail to be of real benefit (0 his audience. The discussion hinging on his remarks, helped to clear many local problems. The proceedings closed with a heartv vote of thanks to Mr Hale.
