IRISH REPUBLICANS
SPLIT IN ARMY RANKS
MALCONTENTS’ MANIFESTO SEQUEL TO BED REPULSE I (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) DUBLIN, April 12. An explanation is now forthcoming of the statement issued yesterday by the Irish Republican Army to the effect that two generals and other /pro; minont members have been suspended and are awaiting trial by court-martial for an alleged broach of discipline in trying to induce support of a new political party. The statement urged Republicans to stand fast for the Republican Army. The differences thus indicated arose i at a convention, when extremists pro- j posed that the organisation should j openly. adopt the Communist pro-j gramme. The Rods were defeated and walked out of the room.
Subsequently those malcontents issued a manifesto announcing their intention of forming a new Republican body to fight capitalism and make the issue of a workers and peasants’ republic predominant in Irish politics.
