I HORA HORA RUGBY CLUB. | 2' I ANNUAL MEETING- HELD. i j PROGRESS IN ALL GRADES. I An attendance of oyer 40 at the anI nual meeting held in thg; Madeira Hall augured well for the prosperity of the Kora Hora Rugby Football Club. The S chairman, Air J. Meaney, presided. The report, outlined the continued progress of the club during the 1988 season. The senior team were runnersup in the championship, and the members kept together well. Again the .■juniors were successful in winning j their grade, going "through the seeonil j consecutive season without a loss. The I third graders, who have a fine lot of ! boys coming, on, were--second on the ladder. The- following..club;ftncjflibers gained T representative honours: —Pickering (North Auckland); Rev. An unfortunate feature of the season’s play referred to in the report was the serious accident to Jim Gardner, who, after two long spoils hi hospital, it. was pleasing to say, was now on the road to recovery. Thanks were due to loyal members of the club, and the public, particularly Mr J, Trench, of the Plaza, who staged a benefit performance, for responding .to the call for assistance. Although Pat Conway’s accident was not so serious, his retirement from the game for a couple of years was necessitated. The balance sheet had a healthier tone, a deficit of £8 11/6 having been turned to a credit of £3 1/6, Reference jtvas made to the dwindling receipts for subscriptions in all grades. Unless this was rectified, it .was staged, the dub’s policy in finding jers.cys for players would have to be discontinued. The election of officers resulted.— Patron, .Mr F. Higginson; president, Mr J. Meaney; secretary, Mr T. Conaghan (all re-elected); delegates to the Whangarei Rugby Union, Messrs G. Gellett and T. Conaghan; club captain, Air J. Twelve new members were elected. Included among those was Mr E. J, Cammick, brother of the Auckland representative player, and who has played for the Ponsonby seniors on various occasions. Had Cammick been in Auckland this season, he woiildTiavo been assured of a position in the senior back division. He plays either fiveeighths or centre, and is said to possess a good pair of hands, and knowledge of team work. ; ; ; ; .. . .
