J INDUSTRY AMD COMMERCE 1 BRITAIN’S BIG RECOVERY. EFFICIENCY AND ECONOMY. (British Official Wireless). (Received 9 a.m.) RUGBY, March 19. Speaking- at the annual dinner of the Provincial Brokers’ Stock Exchange, in Hull, Mr C, A. Nicholeon said there was far more confidence in the industrial and commercial world today than at any time during the last few years. Trade was Improving, unemployment was decreasing, bank clearings were up, traffic on the railways was rising, company reports were better and dividends wore higher.
Above all, said Mr Nicholson, there was a big weight of money pressing down all interest rates, and levering up investment values. During the years of depression every one had become far more efficient, and costs had been reduced in practically every industry.
