DRASTIC TARIFF
ON JAPANESE GOODS. INDIAN ACTION DEPLORED. (Received 2.0 p.m.) TOKIO, February fi. Mr. Hirota, Japanese Foreign Minister, told the Lower House that India’s drastic raising of the 'tariff on miscellaneous goods during the sudden negotiations in December was astonishing, but he had confidence in India’s pledge to make an adequate adjustment. A member denounced India’s disregard for international justice, and said that failure to negotiate for amelioration of the tariff on miscellaneous goods would throw 600,000 workers idle.
