HOUSE AND CONTENTS. OCCUPANTS' FORTUNATE ESCAPE. INCIDENT NEAR KAITAIA. (Special to “Northern Advocate."} KAITAIA, This Day. A six-roomed bouse on Wireless Road, owned and occupied by Mr Ceorgo Hodgson, was destroyed by (ire, with its contents, last., evening. The fire was caused by the explosion of a benzine stove which was being lighted for the preparation of supper a I 10. no. Mr Hodgson was unable to smother the flames, and, owing to the. dry weather, only a trickle of water was available from,the tanks. Four young children, Airs Hodgson and a sister of Mr Hodgson, .who is residing with the family, ..hurriedly escaped. . • ■ ■.. Smoke made it impossible- to remove ai.y of the contents of the house, with the exception of two clothes- boxes and a. bicycle, the property of Miss Hodgson, .The, whole of. the-, furniture, including piano and perspnal was lost. ; Mrs Hodgson escaped in-her. night attire. „ , The building was, greeted: in 1924 and was insured in the Liverpool, London and Globe for £750. The furniture was insured for £225 with the New Zealand Insurance Company.
